Fine Arts Booster Group

The Fine Arts Booster Group (FABG) works in partnership with the Ithaca City School District (ICSD) to advocate, support and celebrate all the arts for all the kids, working toward a vision of increased student access, participation and equity in arts programs. An affiliate of the Ithaca Public Education Initiative (IPEI) since 2001, the boosters believe the arts, music, dance, and visual, literary and theater arts are a central part of every child’s public school education.

FABG is open to all Pre-K-12 staff, parents, students and community members. Booster volunteers communicate arts news, award mini-grants, coordinate the repair of donated used musical instruments, produce the secondary school concert and play programs, and connect community resources to the schools.

History:

In 2000 Michael Allen, an ICSD band teacher, saw the need for a music booster group due to the state of the instrument inventory. An ad hoc group of parents, teachers and community members met and determined a group structure, drew up bylaws and formed a first board. Ithaca STEM Advocates

IthacaSTEM Advocates is a volunteer-run organization devoted to fostering the appreciation, knowledge, and application of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by encouraging involvement in STEM-related activities, clubs, teams, events, and classes in the Ithaca City School District(ICSD). IthacaSTEM Advocates was formed in 2013 as an affiliate of the Ithaca Public Education Initiative (IPEI).

IthacaSTEM raises funds to improve learning opportunities in STEM disciplines for all ICSD students, and works to facilitate collaboration among STEM-related groups in the Ithaca area.
