Carrie Brindisi, a science teacher at Ithaca High School since 2011, was recognized for her creative approach to science education and her dedication to students at the Ithaca City School District’s convocation on Tuesday.
Brindisi received the Raymond C. Loehr Innovative Science Teaching Award, which is presented annually to a teacher who uses innovative methods to inspire interest in the sciences.
Lily Talcott, ICSD’s deputy superintendent, said in a news release that the award honors teachers who “consistently embody the principles of culturally responsive practices, work toward full inclusion, and embrace innovation within the science and trans-disciplinary classroom.”
