IPEI 10th Anniversary Speakers
The Ithaca Public Education Initiative Celebrated its 10th anniversary on Monday, April 3, at the Ithaca High School. To help us mark this milestone, we were fortunate to have as speakers the sitting presidents of all three local centers of higher education. Carl Hayne, Presidents of Tompkins Cortland Community College, Hunter Rawlings, Interim President of Cornell University, and Peggy Williams, President of Ithaca College spoke about public education's importance to our young people, the strength of community involvement, and the success that IPEI has had in creating opportunities for partnerships between their institutions and the Ithaca City School District. Bill Russell, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction for the Ithaca City School District, also spoke and gave his heartfelt thanks for all of the support that IPEI has rallied.
Terry Byrnes, IPEI President, made opening and closing remarks and introduced the speakers.
