Join your fellow Chamber Members in the gorgeous gardens adjacent to the new Nevin Welcome Center at the Cornell Plantations for October’s Member Mixer. Grab a drink and something to eat and build valuable business relationships needed to help you succeed in business.

Outside of bolstering your business connections, this event offers the chance to learn about Kids Discover the Trail!, the unique collaboration between IPEI (Ithaca Public Education Initiative), ICSD (Ithaca City School District) and the Discovery Trail. As fellow members of the Chamber, the collaborators are excited to share with you what Ithaca elementary students experience through KDT!

All 2900 elementary school students have fun and learning activities with the educators of the seven Discovery Trail museums and the public library. Each year Pre-K through fifth grade students have a field trip, and more, that is matched with their grade level curriculum and that connects them with another class of students from a different Ithaca school.

IPEI helped start KDT almost ten years ago because it believes in connecting school and community and because access to the world-class resources of the Discovery Trail was not equitable.  Now students enter middle school having had eight common experiences and building relationships with students from other schools through the “buddy up” component.  In addition, every student gets a book every year that complements that year’s KDT subject matter.
