Saturday, May 12 is the Full Circle Celebration of Kids Discover the Trail!
All community members are invited to join with Ithaca students and their families to visit the eight Discovery Trail sites on Saturday, May 12, between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., for the “Full Circle Celebration” of Kids Discover the Trail! (KDT!). Because this year’s ICSD fifth graders are the first group of students to have completed the full circle of all eight Discovery Trail-based learning experiences during their elementary school years, this open house style event has been planned to celebrate the “full circle”. School bus transportation is offered from each elementary school to Discovery Trail sites.

Galumpha brings eye-catching choreography to the State Theatre of Ithaca!
Ithaca, NY – They’ve performed for audiences around the world and now the internationally known dance sensation, Galumpha, will be bringing their act back to the State Theatre in Ithaca on Sunday, February 19 at 3:00 p.m.. IPEI is participating in this year’s Ithaca Alternative Gift Fair, which offers an opportunity to give charitable donations as holiday gifts for friends and relatives. IPEI’S 13th Annual Adult Spelling Bee was Sun. November 13th
The 200 community members who attended the Ithaca Public Education Initiative (IPEI) 13th Annual Adult Spelling Bee on Sunday, November 13 in Ithaca High School’s Bliss Gym witnessed the “thrill of victory and agony of defeat? for a good cause.The Spellicans with team members Melissa Smith, Russ Charif and Beth Howard took home the trophy as the top spellers for the third year in a row. When the Fall Creek Stingers stumbled on "umfaan," a correct spelling offered by The Spellicans clinched the title. (An umfaan is a southern African boy who cares for small children or performs domestic work.) [more...]

IPEI hosted a reception in February to introduce Dr. Luvelle C. Brown, ICSD Superintendent of Schools, and his family. Many thanks to La Tourelle Resort and Spa for their generous event sponsorship and to the Ithaca Flower Shop for decorations. President Terry Byrnes welcomed Dr. Brown and he gave brief remarks.
